Dr. Clemons grew up in the Chicago area of Illinois, and came to Arkansas in 1973. She has made Arkansas her home state since then.

She worked several years in Little Rock as a disability advocate in Social Security Administration Proceedings, before earning her PhD degree in Clinical Psychology.

Dr. Clemons earned her PhD at the University of Arkansas, and completed her internship and post-doctoral residency in Arkansas.
